Synopsis:
An unknown species of egg is brought to Rann from the planet Anthorann. It hatches into a bird which Alanna uses as a mount. While she and Adam Strange have a picnic, the bird transforms into an intelligent alien being called a corytrix.

The alien threatens to hurl Rann into the sun in order to create enough heat to hatch the other eggs on Anthorann. The corytrix possesses several powers which enable it to turn objects to stone. Adam devises a way to blow a chunk of the planet on which the corytrix stands into space. He too is trapped on the space island as it drifts to the sun, but the Zeta-Beam wears off, allowing Adam to return safely to Earth.
