History:
Little is known of Angel O'Day's early life, except that her father's best friend was famed Chinese detective Charlie Chum, who taught Angel all he knew about detective work.

When she grew up, she somehow met Sam Simeon, about whom there is still a good deal of mystery. It is assumed he is a native of hidden Gorilla City, who is allowed to roam in the world of man. This may be because his ambition was to be a cartoonist, and he got a job working for Stan Bragg at Brainpix Comics, but Sam made a pittance and Bragg took most of the credit for his work. In frustration, Sam agreed to become Angel's partner in her detective agency.

They did quite well in their cases, though they never became rich. In time, Sam quit Brainpix to work for Morton I. Stoops, top editor at DZ Comics.

Though generally quite civilized, Sam has a temper, and is particularly dangerous if someone calls him an ape. He is accepted by many people as human.

Angel was last seen at a detectives convention during the so-called Crisis on Infinite Earths. Sam was at that time in Gorilla City, conversing with Bobo in ape language. Fortunately, Angel is fluent in ape.

Powers:
Though neither has any super-powers, both Angel and Sam are formidable fighters. Angel has won awards for sharpshooting, judo, and karate. Sam is as strong as one would expect a gorilla to be. Both are also keen of mind and excellent detectives.
