History:
When Pope Innocent began the fourth Crusade in 1202, his knights, seeking further recruits for their holy war, raided the country of Zandia, where its high priest refused subjugation. During the ensuing battle, the high priest was about to slay on of Innocent's monks when the monk offered to relinquish the Cloak of Christ, purportedly worn at the Last Supper, then stolen and given to mystics and sorcerers. It was now, the monk claimed, corrupted with the power of darkness, and was being returned to the Holy land for exorcism.

Donning the cloak, the high priest felt the heady emotions of the fighting soldiers invigorate him. He led his people to victory, then bathed in the blood of his enemies, which gave him even greater strength and made him nearly immortal.

The priest declared himself Brother Blood and closed Zandia to all strangers. He ruled for sixty more years, fathering a son who killed him at the age of 100.

So it went for hundreds of years; a son slew his father, bathed in the Bloodpit, then ruled the small Baltic country, growing stronger on the emotions of his followers.

In 1940 a new son of Blood was born who despised his father's evil. His father, fearing the curse of Blood, tried to kill both his American wife and her child, but mother and son survived and fled Zandia.

A striking beauty, the child's mother then married into a wealthy royal family where the son of Blood watched his stepfather rule his country and learned to wield power. After reaching the proper age, he was sent to America to continue his education. He returned to his adopted country to learn that his mother was dying at her husband's hand. Enraged by her death, the son of Blood slew his stepfather, then fled for his life.

Returning to Zandia, the son of Blood killed his father, becoming the new Brother Blood.

Using his power, the Church of Brother Blood has grown from a small Zandian cult to a worldwide religion. Followers of Brother Blood are high-ranking officials in almost every nation and they await their master's commands.
