History:
A billion years ago, Abnegazar, Rath, and Ghast inhabited Earth, using their magical powers to spread evil over the planet's pre-human population. After a time, a mysterious race known only as the Timeless Ones was alerted to the rampant evil and banished the demons to eternal imprisonment beneath the Earth.

But the trio of demons had prepared for such an event and created talismans – the Silver Wheel of Wyorlath, the Green Bell of Uthool, and the Red Jar of Calythos – hiding them beneath the planet's surface, as well.

Twentieth Century sorcerer Felix Faust, uncovering information about the demons, conjured up their spirits in an effort to gain power. The demons informed him of the talismans and how they were guarded by magically powered creations.

Faust suggested he use his powers to force the Justice League of America to unearth the three objects, setting into motion magical events the, 100 years hence, would finally free the imprisoned demons.

The JLA already on a mission in time, defeated the demons, who had indeed been freed. Since this first encounter, the JLA has foiled at least three other attempts by the demons to free themselves and wreak havoc on Earth once again.

Powers:
All three demons appear to have identical powers, including the ability to create a variety of matter, such as their magical talismans, produce force bolts of destructive power, animate standing objects, and fly through time and space. They are susceptible to other forms of magic.
