History:
Byth was the greatest thief on the planet Thanagar, a world where people steal not for profit, but simply for the thrill of it.

After bursting into the laboratory of one Professor Krotan, Byth stole and swallowed the only existing sample of Krotan's greatest discovery: a pill that allowed the human mind to control the molecular configuration of the body. This pill gave Byth the power to alter his shape to that of any other living creature, bird or beast.

Having achieved the ultimate thrill on Thanagar, Byth stole one of the planet's newly developed star-cruisers, and fled to Earth in search of bigger and better thrills. He was pursued by Thanagarian Police Officers Katar and Shayera Hol, who ultimately captured Byth and returned him to Thanagar for punishment.

Powers:
As a result of swallowing that experimental compound, Byth is permanently able to transform himself into a duplicate of any other living creature he has seen on any planet, duplicating their powers and abilities as well. There appears to by no limit to the size of his transformations, as Byth has become everything from a tiny Earth termite to a gigantic Thanagarian brontadon. It is unknown how long Byth is able to sustain a particular transformation.

In his human form, Byth is an average hand-to-hand combatant, preferring to rely on his wits whenever possible.
