Jericho's story begins at the height of the Vietnam war with the training of Slade Wilson. considered by many to be one of the U.S. Army's finest soldiers. He was moved from the regular army and put into a special corps to be trained by his future wife, Adeline Kane. During his training. Adeline and Slade were married and had their first son, Grant.
Not long after Grant's birth, Slade volunteered for a dangerous medical experiment. The army was searching for a way to create resistance to enemy truth serums, but the procedure had unexpected results. The Adrenocorticotropic hormones used drastically altered Slade's DNA, giving him super strength, speed, and incredibly fast reflexes and agility. The experiment had one further result: it affected the birth of Slade and Adeline's second son. Joseph. Joseph's DNA altered his body's natural chemistry and he was born a mutant, the full effects of which were not discovered until many years later.
Drummed out of the army, Slade secretly became a mercenary known as Deathstroke the Terminator. An international assassin known as the Jackal kidnapped Joseph as a means of luring the Terminator to him. Slade finally revealed his secret to his wife and the two confronted the Jackal to free their son. Slade attempted a rescue, but one of the Jackal's men slit young Joseph's throat. Slade killed the man and Joseph survived, but forever mute.
Furious over the repercussions of her husband's actions, Adeline divorced Slade and raised Joseph herself, first in England and then in America.
As Joseph grew older, his mutant abilities began to express themselves; by the time he reached eighteen they were fully developed. Adeline then realized it was time for Joseph to grow on his own and leave the family nest to find others like himself.
During this time, the Terminator had returned to America to complete a mission contracted by his first son, Grant—to capture the group of teen-aged super-heroes known as the Titans. Adeline introduced Joseph to the Titans leader, Nightwing. After helping his new friends defeat his father, Joe Wilson joined the Titans as their newest member, Jericho.
Joe Wilson has a strong sense of duty and morality. Though he loves his parents dearly, he has seen how the quest for power had corrupted them. Joe's quest is for life. He joins the Titans on their missions because they closely share his values. He possesses a selfless dedication for doing right, and has no interest in personal gain. He expresses his silent soul through music. poetry, and painting.
Powers:
Jericho is a mutant with the uncanny ability to take control over the motor responses of another human body. He can accomplish this possession in two ways: either by making eye contact with a conscious target or by touching an unconscious target. When eye contact is made, Joe's eyes turn from green to black, and his body fades from view and enters his target, controlling all of the target's movements until he leaves. The target maintains control over his own consciousness and can continue to talk unimpeded. When he takes over an unconscious person, he can speak in that person's voice until the target awakens, at which point the target controls all speech.
Joe Wilson is a capable hand-to-hand combatant, having been taught by his mother in all manner of fighting and martial arts. Joe prefers to avoid unnecessary physical combat.
