Synopsis:
After finding several Atlantean outposts destroyed, Aquaman returns to Atlantis which has been conquered by an outside force. To gain entry into the city, Aquaman pretends to be an escaping prisoner. He is captured and returned to the Aquarium where political prisoners are held.
Inside the prison, he meets several other prisoner. One of them explains that after Aquaman left, Vulko died. Mera went insane and was confined to an asylum. Two factions were left fighting for power when the invaders arrived. The military faction lost its leader in the first battle, leaving a man named Pletus in charge. Pletus led Atlantis into ruin and surrendered to the invaders.
That night, Aquaman attempts to leave the prison. The prisoner who filled him in on recent history tries to stop him. Aquaman bests him in a fight and is then introduced to the resistance leader Jared.
