Synopsis:
After one of their probes is destroyed, the United Planets dispatches the Wanderers to investigate the world known as W-23. This world is still ruled by dinosaurs, but something has been killing them off. Aviax examines a specimen from one of the dead dinosaurs and determines that radiation is responsible for its death. He determines that this background radiation is harmless to humans.
To preserve life on W-23, Aviax plans to introduce an immunity to the radiation into the dinosaur population. He does this by shape-shifting into a proto-bird creature and mating with a female dinosaur.
While the others wait for Aviax on board their spaceship, they are visited by a group of aliens who take Elvar back to one of their own ships.
