Synopsis:
After his promotion to 2nd lieutenant, Rock pleads with his commanding officer for a demotion. He doesn't get his wish and instead oversees another lieutenant named Smith. Smith's father is a general known for wanting his soldiers to appear clean and orderly, earning the nickname "Spit 'N' Polish". Rock is reprimanded by the general after he returns from combat with a disheveled uniform.
Rock rejoins the troops of Easy Company, but the soldiers don't accept him now that he is an officer. Rock tries to prove himself to them, while Lt. Smith tries to prove himself to his father. Rock succeeds in proving his worth to his unit, and Lt. Smith takes out a tank. Rock then saves the life of the general, who then grants Rock's request to be demoted back to sergeant.
