While on assignment Jimmy tries to point out the skills of a good reporter to a young admirer. Jimmy gets carried away and claims that he has deduced the hiding place of some stolen jewels. Superman is nearby and decides to help Jimmy by making his deduction come true.
Jimmy is astounded when the jewels show up where he predicted. Before Superman can tell him the truth, he is joined by his hometown friend June Evans. Jimmy tries his remarkable powers of deduction again. Superman is forced to make the predictions come several more times to protect Jimmy from humiliation.
Finally, Jimmy's deductive powers put him in the line of fire from a killer. Superman saves Jimmy, then explains that he was responsible for Jimmy's amazing predictions. Superman agrees to keep the secret from Jimmy's friends, while Jimmy works on developing real reporting skills.
