Comments:
The Twists are analogues for the Beatles. This story alludes to the conspiracy theory which postulates that Paul McCartney is dead.
Synopsis:
Dick Grayson and his college friends are interested in the rumor that Saul Cartwright of their favorite band, the Twists is actual dead. They believe he has been replaced by an imposter. To solve the mystery Dick arranges for the Twists to stay at Wayne Manor while they are on tour in Gotham City. He then tries to collect evidence that Saul is an imposter. Batman joins in the case and helps Robin collect evidence. However, someone is thwarting them.
At first Batman believes that Saul is tampering with the clues to prevent himself from being found out. However, Batman eventually discovers that he was wrong. When Batman confronts the Twists, Glennan, another member pulls out a gun. Robin stops him. Saul then admits that he is the real Saul. He created the false rumor to cover for the fact that the other three members of the band are actually dead. The phony Glennan was trying to protect the secret too, but through illegal means. Saul then decides to reveal the truth to the world. The other two phony members continue to tour with him as a newly formed trio.
