On two separate cases, the Doom Patrol encounters monstrous creatures which Robotman is unable to see or hear, causing him to believe that his human brain is going insane within his robot body. The Chief deduces that the beings are illusions projected by a phony scientist, Dr. Janus, and that Robotman is immune to these projections due to the lead shielding around his brain. The Doom Patrol is then able to defeat Janus and reveal his true identity as a Nazi was criminal.
