Synopsis:
Batman attempts to stop four thieves from robbing an art exhibit on the waterfront. He is wounded during the fight and must abandon his pursuit of the crooks. He discovers that they took only one painting that was not significantly valuable.

When Batman returns to his penthouse as Bruce Wayne, he hears a news report concerning Orson Payne, a wealthy recluse. Once he is recovered from his injury, he sets out after the crooks whose trail leads to Payne's mansion. The man has been driven mad by the loss of his fiancee years earlier. Payne is now hiring men to steal artwork which contain images resembling his former love. After narrowly avoiding a death trap, Batman captures Payne.

Later at his penthouse, Bruce Wayne makes the connection that his cleaning woman Cathy is really Payne's former fiancee.
