Synopsis:
Lois goes undercover to expose a pen-pal racket in which swindlers cheat wealthy widows out of their money. Disguised as widow Eve Sloan, Lois places an ad in the paper and is contacted by Carl Curtin. She believes him to be a swindler, so she convinces him that she has money. He takes her back to his ranch, which she later discovers is not his. When she tries to turn him into the sheriff, he tries to do the same to her. When Lois explains that she is a reporter, he reveals that he too is a reporter, Carl Curtin, trying to expose the same racket. Lois apologizes and returns to Metropolis empty handed.
