Synopsis:
Dr. Bruce Gordon co-designer of Solar City, a community powered by the sun’s energy, is afflicted with an unforseen transformation during an eclipse. Bruce becomes Eclipso, an evil being possessed with incredible power. He then proceeds to destroy his own creation, Solar City with the aid of a unique black diamond jewel.
A strong burst of light weakens Eclipso, forcing him to revert to Gordon’s form. Before the reversal is complete, Eclipso stashes the diamond and costume inside an atomic pile, being immune to the radiations himself.
Gordon awakens with no knowledge of his activities as Eclipso. His partner Simon Bennett witnesses the final stages of Gordon’s return and fills in the blanks in Bruce’s memory. The two men plan a test to discover if Eclipso will return during the next Eclipse. Indeed he does, but Gordon has rigged a burst of light, so that the evil Eclipso is not allowed to roam free for long. Though he was successful in outsmarting Eclipso this time, he predicts an ongoing war, resuming with the next eclipse.
