Synopsis:
The wealthy miser Sir Byron McCabe has been found to have embezzled money. Before the authorities can arrest him, McCabe flees. He hides in an abandoned lodge and does not venture outside. After weeks of seclusion, a spirit comes to him with a proposition to leave Earth and join the spirit world. There is one condition, McCabe must tell the truth about why he wants to leave. McCabe lies and is found out when the spirits try to bring him to the other side. Because he lied, the spirits reject him. They return him to Earth, but his body has been caught half-way between worlds. He has changed into a bizarre half-man and continues to live alone in the lodge, living off the charity of farmers.
