Synopsis:
Barry Allen receives a mental image of two Rogues Gallery villains outside the city. He races out the door to confront them. The villains, Captain Boomerang and the Trickster, have also been lured there by a mental suggestion. Suddenly, a rope appears in their hands which they use to trip up the Flash. He falls and does not get up. When the villains check on him, he is dead.

The Flash's spirit encounters an entity of amazing speed known as the Sentinel. The being informs Barry that he has broken the speed of life. It leads the Flash across the nether realms to battle an entity known as the Devourer which threatens all existence. The Flash defeats the being, then is taken back to Earth by the Sentinel.

The Flash arrives to find himself dead. Grodd was responsible for the mental summons to both the Flash and the villains. Now, Grodd is forcing Boomerang and the Trickster to kill one another. The Sentinel helps Barry's spirit re-enter is own body and come back to life. The Flash defeats Grodd. The grateful villains then surrender.
