Jimmy is witnesses a murder committed by members of an international spy ring. Jimmy obtains a clue from the dying man and decides to play spy by investigating. Jimmy uses several gadgets created by Professor Potter to become agent Double-Five. He then flies to South America where the clue has led him.
Upon reaching the country of Andulia, Jimmy meets a woman who tries to kill him and take his signal watch. Jimmy tricks her, but is still captured by the secret police. Knowing that the spies want his signal watch he hides it, but when he meets another woman, he reveals the location.
The spies hope to call Superman and use him to locate a missing scientist. However, spies have taken Clark Kent prisoner, so Superman can't answer the call. Clark is forced to save Jimmy by swallowing a poison capsule and feigning death. Jimmy then escapes and locates the missing scientist. The spy leader reveals himself as General Pedro, the dictator of Andulia, and captures them both. Superman arrives in time to save Jimmy.
After General Pedro has been deposed, the doctor can work freely to establish a world heart bank. Jimmy returns to Metropolis, where he finds Clark is still alive. Clark tells Jimmy that the professor saved his life with an artificial heart.
