Comments:
This story takes place in 1943. The real Admiral Yamamoto was killed on April 18, 1943.
Synopsis:
The Unknown Soldier masquerades as cryptographer T.E. Link. He allows himself to be captured and is taken to a Japanese prison camp. Colonel Funaga tortures and questions Link. He learns that the Japanese Purple Code has not been cracked by the United States. The Japanese continue to use the code which has in fact been compromised. Admiral Yamamoto, the man behind the attack on Pearl Harbor is shot down by American forces with information obtained from coded Japanese communications. With his mission accomplished, the Unknown Soldier escapes from the camp. Funaga commits suicide for his failure and dishonor.
