Synopsis:
Wesley Dodds and Dian Belmont attend a show at the Astronitorium. During the show, a man in the audience is killed in a uncertain manner leading Wesley to conclude that a death ray was used. As the Sandman Wes examines the lighting fixtures but can find no evidence to prove his theory.

At the next show, the Sandman returns to the building and discovers a different bulb in the lighting fixture aimed at a particular seat. Wes moves the intended target from his seat in time to save the man's life.

The man explains that he was a judge on the Norkut case involving a scientist that was convicted. The murdered man was the district attorney on the case. The Sandman then tracks down Norkut working as a cashier. He built the death ray and wanted revenge against the men who had sent him to prison.
