Synopsis:
Outside the town of Limbo, North Carolina Swamp Thing encounters a trio of hunters. He protects them from a bear attack, but the men turn on him and sever his hand. After leaving the men behind, Swamp Thing rescues a young girl from her father. The man was already killed his wife and now threatens the girl. Swamp Thing's intervention inadvertently causes the death of the man.

Back in Limbo, the hunters return to tell their story to the townspeople. Also in town is Mr. Kay, who is searching for Swamp Thing. The hunters provide him with the severed hand. Then Swamp Thing arrives in town with the young girl, Casey Clancy. A reckless driver hits him and is thrown from the vehicle. This inspires the hunters and other townspeople to attack.
