Synopsis:
Doctor Doom, a former college classmate of Reed Richards who was scarred in a horrible accident, uses a giant net to trap the Fantastic Four inside their own headquarters. The team is forced to turn over Sue Storm as a hostage. Once Doom has his prisoner, he forces the male members of the Fantastic Four to undertake a mission for him.
Doom has invented a time machine which he uses to send Mr. Fantastic, the Thing and the Human Torch back in time to retrieve Blackbeard's treasure. The trio don pirate costumes and are soon shanghaied aboard a pirate ship. Using their powers the group soon takes control of two pirate vessels. The crew swears loyalty to them and nicknames the Thing, Blackbeard, due to his disguise.
The team realizes that they have become a part of actual history. To fulfill Doom's request they take one of the treasure chests. However, they replace the contents with old chains instead of gold and gems. When they return to the present, Doom reveals that the gems belonged to Merlin and would have made him invincible. When he discovers the double-cross, Doom tries to kill the trio. Susan rescues them. The Fantastic Four then escape from Doom's castle. Doom himself also escapes, after Johnny tries to stop him.
