Peter Parker is asked to assist electronics expert Professor Cobwell with a special project. Before beginning the project, Peter is sent to retrieve a radio from a local repair shop. While in the shop, Peter feels strange electric impulses which arouse his suspicion. When he returns to Cobwell's lab, he feels the impulses again. He examines the radio and discovers a strange device inside.
With his suspicions triggered, Peter returns to the repair shop as Spider-Man. Inside he discovers that the Tinkerer who runs the shop is working with a group of aliens. The radios were altered and are being used as surveillance upon prominent scientists and leaders. Spider-Man battles the aliens which leads to a fire in the shop. The aliens escape. Spider-Man tries to rescue the shop owner, but he is left with only an empty mask.
