Synopsis:
Arak and Malagigi are attacked by a band of brigands. Arak is able to kill them all except for one man, Perro, who yields to the indian warrior. Perro is injured and pleads to be taken to his village where he can die in his own bed. Arak agrees to the request and carries the man home.
The villagers have a mixed reaction to Arak and Malagigi. The village is in service to Baledor, Malagigi's enemy. When a knight is dispatched to the village by the evil mage, Arak defends them. He unmasks the knight as a woman. Malagigi recognizes her as Valda, a knight of Carolus Magnus, under the spell of the wizard. Malagigi breaks the spell, just before the villagers turn on them and capture the trio.
Arak, Valda, and Malagigi are brought to Baledor. The evil wizard kills Perro and the villagers instantly. He then forces Valda and Arak to fight to the death. Arak is able to resist the sorcerer enough to position himself during the fight. When he throws his tomahawk at Valda, she ducks. It strikes Baledor in the face, critically wounding him.
With Baledor injured, the spell is broken. Malagigi then uses magic to kill the sorcerer and destroy his source of power. The trio return to the village briefly before going on their way to Aix-La-Chapelle where Carolus Magnus awaits.
