Comments:
This story takes place when Arak was a boy between pages 13 and 14 of Arak, Son of Thunder #33.
Synopsis:
While playing with the other boys in the Quontaukan tribe, Arak is confronted by Red Willow. The older boy claims that Arak, known as Bright-Sky-After-Storm, is really the son of the snake spirit. To prove his courage to the others Arak goes to the cave of Yaogah, a bear spirit. He intends to kill the bear and bring its paw back as proof of his courage. However, the bear spirit beats him. It then spares the boy's life as it senses an important future ahead of him. Arak returns to the village having learned that he need not prove his courage to anyone lest he truly doubt it himself.
