Comments:
This story continues in L.E.G.I.O.N. '89 #10.
Although not explicitly stated in this story, the Durlan is transported into the 30th Century and begins a life there as R.J. Brande, the man who created the Legion of Super-Heroes. In his place comes Phase, a woman with amnesia who is not named in this story. Just three week's after this issue went on sale, Legion of Super-Heroes #2 was released, which revealed the disappearance and presumed death of Tinya Wazzo, Phantom Girl. Given the similarity of their physical appearance and powers, it was speculated that Tinya was transported back in time to the 20th Century. Indeed, in one timeline that was the case. However, in another timeline Phase is Enya Wazzo, Tinya's cousin. For the purposes of this index, Phase will be considered to Enya, not Tinya.
Synopsis:
With Vril Dox incapacitated, Lyrissa and Strata continue the administrative task of creating an intergalactic police force on Cairn. The Durlan performs tests on Stealth to make sure her hostility will not be a future problem. After giving her a clean bill of health, he goes to consult Marij'n Bek about Lobo. Suddenly, the Durlan vanishes and is replaced by a young woman with the power to phase through walls. Garryn Bek chases her through the building. In trying to capture her, he accidentally releases Lobo, who turns his attention to killing Dox.
