Comments:
This story takes place in January 1943 during the fighting in North Africa. It continues into the invasion of Italy which took place in September 1943.
Synopsis:
In the desert of North Africa, Easy falls under a mortar attack. Rock summons the medic to help patch up the wounded. Bulldozer believes that medics aren't real soldiers because they don't fight. Despite the disrespect the medic does not say anything.
Later Easy joins a beach landing on the mainland of Italy. Many soldiers are wounded. The medic is kept busy saving their lives. After spending all night helping the wounded, the tired medic is ready to march north with the rest of Easy despite Bulldozer's chiding.
East then begins climbing a hill. Rock senses danger, so he and Bulldozer move forward alone. The enemy drop grenades on them which buries the two soldiers in rubble. The medic charges forward to help them, exposing himself to gunfire in the process. He reaches Rock and Bulldozer, digs them out, and begins patching them up.
The Nazis move in. Easy moves up to help out, but the enemy soldiers get there first. The medic dives on top of Rock and Bulldozer to shield them from the enemy gunfire. Easy then arrives and defeats the Nazis. The medic has died to save the wounded including Bulldozer who now has a greater respect for the medic.
