Comments:
This story takes place in mid-December 1944.

Synopsis:
The Unknown Soldier receives orders from the Pentagon that take him to the frontlines in Europe. He, disguised as a corporal, is put in charge of a five-man recon team. They are sent into a demolished town ahead of the main forces. The team is quickly captured by the Germans.

The group of soldiers are taken into the streets to be executed. Then a ragged man who was a former prisoner in a concentration camp comes upon the scene. The Nazis try to make the man shoot the soldiers, but instead he directs his attack at the Nazi commander. A fight ensues. Two men in the Unknown Soldier's squad are killed and the former prisoner is seriously wounded, but they win the fight. The remaining men then destroy two Nazis tanks before returning to their lines.

The Unknown Soldier soon returns home. He honors the life of the prisoner who helped him escape the firing squad.
