Synopsis:
Supergirl uses a time-machine, modeled after the one used by the Legion of Super-Heroes, to travel into the future where her powers return. There, she aids a resistance movement defeat an evil dictator who is trying to destroy all books. After completing her mission, Supergirl returns to the present, and her powers disappear again.
While at the beach with her foster-parents, Linda meets Dick Malverne, formerly Dick Wilson, a boy from the Midvale Orphanage. After spending the day with her new beau, Linda tries to dispose of her Supergirl costume forever, but her power mysteriously return. Strangely, she is also now immune to Kryptonite.
Lesla-Lar tries to remove Linda’s powers again using her special ray, but it has no effect. She is soon arrested by Kandorian police, leaving her partner, Lex Luthor, to remain in prison.
The return of Linda’s powers are the result of Mxyzptlk’s magic, as he was pulling a prank on Superman by giving an ordinary girl super-powers. Little did the imp know that that ordinary girl was Supergirl.
