Comments:
This story is continued from Adventures of Superman #454 and continues in Superman #32.
This story states the Sen-M and the League of Life existed on Krypton 200,000 years before Jor-El. The resulting war over cloning was revealed in World of Krypton #1.
This story introduces the Eradicator, a Kryptonian weapon.
Synopsis:
Superman is brought to Warworld where he is forced to fight as a gladiator for Mongul's amusement. When his body is analyzed, he is discovered to be Kryptonian. One of the cellkeeper's brings the news to an ancient cleric who once visited Krypton in its distant past. The cleric recalls how he created a sect of Kryptonians who disavowed cloning. When a conflict arose between the sect and the Science Council, a weapon called the Eradicator was used on the cleric. He did not die, but instead agreed to leave Krypton with some of his followers. However, the followers all died immediately after leaving the planet because a genetic anomaly prevented them from existing away from Krypton. The cleric then continued on for thousands of years.
Back on Warworld, Superman defies Mongul by refusing to kill his defeated opponents. Finally, he is matched with the champion Draaga. During the fight he is distracted with memories of the past when the cleric establishes a mental link with him. Despite the distraction, Superman wins the battle, leading to a direct challenge of Mongul.
