Comments:
This story reveals the post-Crisis origin of the Whip. The post-Crisis Whip is named Rodrigo instead of Rodney and his horse is Diablo instead of King. His assistant Carlos has also been given the last name of Fuentes.
This story is an adaptation of the sixth story of Flash Comics #1.
Synopsis:
Polo player Rodrigo Gaynor is passing through the southwest town of Seguro. A local man Carlos Fuentes has been convicted of murdering his boss, even though it was self defense. The other ranchers want to lynch him. Rod hears about the legend of El Castigo, a 19th century hero who helped the poor. Rod dons a mask and becomes the Whip. Aided by newspaperwoman Marissa Dillon, Rod protect Carlos from the ranchers and captures the crooked Sheriff Todd.
