Comments:
This story is continued from World of Smallville #1 and continues in World of Smallville #3.

Pages 19-21 of this story expand upon the Kents finding Kal-El and passing him off as their own child as original told on pages 13-14 of Man of Steel #1.

Synopsis:
The Kents tell Clark about Dan Fordman, Martha's first husband. Since he was dying of cancer, he came to Jonathan with a proposition to have him take Martha. Jonathan, who still loved Martha, was torn by the offer because it conflicted with his own moral sensibilities.

Jonathan went to Fordman's office to reject the offer, but he found the man in an argument with his sister Eliza. Fordman's sister believed Martha wanted her husband's money and was determined to get her brother to change his will. Dan refused.

Later Jonathan visited the Fordman home for dinner. Before he could tell Dan about his decision, Eliza interrupted again. Another argument ensued. This time Dan choked to death during the fight. Later when his will is read, he leaves Martha some land, and most of his fortune is invested into his company.

Shortly thereafter, Martha and Jonathan renew their relationship. They eventually marry and discover that they can not have children. While deciding if adoption is right for them, they find Clark in his rocketship. A storm that lasts for months allows them to pretend that the baby is Martha's natural child.

As the Kents finish telling Clark their story, Lana Lang drops by the house to see Clark.
