Synopsis:
Doctor Thirteen and Marie attend an opera in Paris. One of the actresses is killed on stage during the performance. A masked Phantom is seen is the audience, then he disappears. Dr. Thirteen investigates, but he finds no suspects in the murder. At the next performance another actor is killed by the mysterious Phantom of Paris.
Doctor Thirteen learns of a legend in which the opera house was plagued by murder 100 years earlier. He locates a tunnel which had been bricked off, but has now been opened. Despite the discovery he still has no explanation. Finally, he replaces another actor during the next performance. He escapes the murder planned for him, then unmasks the Phantom as Ferandel, the stage prompter who was angry that his opera scripts had been rejected. Ferandel dies while trying to escape, bringing an end to the Phantom.
