Comments:
This story frames two stories:
"The Case of the Diabolical Deggs House..." and
"The Haunting of Drood Wood -- or -- Give Me Back My Head"
Synopsis:
When their car breaks down, four teenagers seek a place to stay for the evening. While walking the street, they witness two women run from the house which appears to be haunted by a poltergeist. The kids call Dr. Thirteen, and the Phantom Stranger just shows up.
Thirteen claims the poltergeist is a fake and tells the kids the tale of the Deggs family which had a poltergeist who turned out to be their creepy neighbor playing pranks. The Phantom Stranger tells his own tale of a headless ghost returning from beyond the grave to find his head.
After the stories are told, the Phantom Stranger forces Tala to reveal herself. She claims that she is not behind the poltergeist, but one of the women who live in the house is responsible. Abigail has been angry that she has been given chocolate ice cream instead of pistachio. With the help of an ancient book, she used witchcraft to create the poltergeist. The Phantom Stranger has the book destroyed, then the kids have ice cream with the other sister. Unknown to everyone, Abigail made copies of the book before it was burned.
