Synopsis:
Believing the gems owned by her employer are cursed, secretary Alice Barton invites the Phantom Stranger and Hugh Criley, president of the Doubters Society to a ritual to end the curse. The three are locked in a room, and the lights are turned out. Babylonian gods then appear, knock out the Stranger, and steal the jewels. When the lights come back on, the room is still locked, and both gods and jewels are gone.
Alice gives her account of the story to the police. Hugh Criley also gives his account in which he claims the thieves were inter-dimensional aliens, not Babylonian gods. The Phantom Stranger suddenly appears and reveals what truly happened. He was knocked out from behind by Criley, who let the men into the room. The Stranger was able to follow the gang to their hideout and recover the jewels. Criley is exposed as the leader of the gang and taken into police custody before the Phantom Stranger vanishes.
