Part 2: "The Helpless Partners"
Jimmy Olsen learns the secret identities of Batman and Robin.
This issue contains a half-page text feature entitled, "How Superman and Batman Learned Each Other's Secret Identities."
Synopsis:
Brainiac returns to Earth and draws Superman's attention with random acts of destruction. One of those acts is a prison break which allows Matt Hagen to escape prison and resume his Clayface identity. Once Brainiac has Superman's attention, he uses a Kryptonite ray on the Man of Steel. Jimmy Olsen steps in front of the ray preventing it from harming Superman, but it causes Jimmy to become deadly to Superman.
Superman contacts Batman and arranges for Jimmy to work with the Caped Crusader, while Robin becomes the temporary partner of the Man of Steel. After Batman reveals his secret identity to Jimmy, they track down Clayface. Elsewhere Robin and Superman locate Brainiac.
Both Robin and Jimmy fail in their initial attempts to help their new partners. Brainiac attempts to team-up with Clayface, who has captured Jimmy. Robin and Jimmy switch places, tricking their opponents. Superman is then able to capture Brainiac, while Batman handles Clayface. Eventually, Jimmy's Kryptonite poisoning wears off, and the normal partnerships are restored.
