Synopsis:
When Mark Merlin returns from a research trip with a collection of magical items obtained from the sorcerer Araxus, his bag is switched with that of an amateur magician, Hubert Hartley. Hartley opens Merlin's bag and realizes his mistake. Before he can return it, he open a vial of magic liquid which causes him to act irrationally. Hubert begins using the magic items to make a name for himself as a magician. The items are too powerful to be controlled, forcing Mark to stop Hubert. Mark eventually realizes that Hubert is under the influence of the strange liquid and devises an antidote. He manages to restore Hubert to normal before the magician unleashes the final device for which Mark has no counter-measure.
