Comments:
Green Lantern is shown to control his ring remotely in this story. While he only does it while dreaming in this story, he will later command it consciously, even when not wearing it.
Synopsis:
One night, while sleeping, Hal Jordan dreams that he changes his friend Pieface into a bird. In his nightstand drawer, Hal’s power ring receives Hal’s thoughts and sends an energy beam out. The beam changes Pieface into a seagull.
The next morning Hal wakes up and goes to Pieface’s door. When he knocks, no one answers. Hal assumes Pieface has already left. Inside, Pieface awakens and discovers his transformation. He is convinced that it was caused by alien invaders. He sets off to locate Green Lantern.
Unable to locate his friend, Hal decides to go to the airport where Pieface’s girlfriend is due to arrive. He flys there as Green Lantern and is bothered on the way by a seagull. He doesn’t realize it is really Pieface.
At the airport, Hal enters the plane Terga is aboard. At the same time, three hi-jackers board and force the pilot to take off. Hal switches to GL and attempts to apprehend the hi-jackers. He is knocked out, but Pieface, still in his seagull form, crashes through the window and revives him. Green Lantern finishes stopping the villains and takes Terga back to the airport.
The bird keeps flying at Terga trying to kiss her. GL realizes it must be Pieface. He changes his friend back to normal, and accompanies Pieface and Terga on a double date with Carol Ferris.
