Comments:
This story contains several flashbacks to adventures in Superman's past.
Flashback 1: (page 2, panel 4) The Kents find Kal-El. This flashback recounts scene 4 from the third story of More Fun Comics #101.
Flashback 2: (page 2, panels 5-7) Superboy nearly gives away his secret identity by flying through the Kent's window. Eventually this will lead to the construction of an underground tunnel. This flashback occurs chronologically between the first story of Adventure Comics #223 and the first story of Adventure Comics #224.
Flashback 3: (page 3, panels 4-5) Clark moves to Metropolis. This flashback occurs between the second story of Superman #359 and the flashback in the first story of Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #55.
Flashback 4: (page 3, panel 6) Superman battles It. This flashback recounts the first story of Action Comics #162.
Several other flashbacks give no indication of when they occured. (page 4, panels 1-4) Superman stops a dam from breaking. (page 5, panel 3) Superman stop a gang of tank bandits. (page 5, panel 4) Superman saves a plane. (page 5, panel 5 - page 6, panel 1) Superman stops a dumbbell shaped meteor. (page 6, panel 6) Supermam battles a robot duplicate. (page 7, panels 2-4) Superman battles a dinosaur.
It is assumed that these flashbacks immediately preceed this story.
Synopsis:
Clark Kent receives a letter indicating that someone knows his secret identity. To solve the mystery, Superman searches his memory for mistakes he has made in protecting his secret. He recalls three mistakes and acts to correct them. He then tests the men who could have learned his identity from the errors, but none of them is responsible for the letter. Superman eventually determines that the letter was mailed posthumously by Jonathan Kent to keep Clark on his toes and protect his secret.
