Synopsis:
When Superman switches back to Clark Kent after stopping a bomb in the Daily Planet office, his transformation is witnessed by window washer John Forrest. Forrest is so stunned that he falls from the window. Clark dives after him, later explaining that Superman saved them both. Forrest is injured in the fall and lands in a coma.

While Superman worries about Forrest's recovery and exposure, he battles racketeer Fathead Gurney. Gurney observes Superman's interest in Forrest and tries to kidnap the comatose man as leverage. Superman rescues Forrest and arrests Gurney.

When Forrest does recover he remembers that his real name is Eric Joyce, a banker who disappeared years earlier. He had been suffering from amnesia for years and was working as a window washer under the name John Forrest. Joyce can not recall anything about his life as Forrest including his knowledge of Superman's identity. Once again, Superman's secret remains safe.
