Synopsis:
Superboy bores a hole to the center of the Earth in order to super heat an experimental compound for medical research. A gem creature from inside the Earth emerges and threatens Smallville. Clark Kent is caught in the creature's path. Witnesses see the creature swallow him, though he is able to survive because he is invulnerable.

Superboy is unable to stop the creature, but he notices that it is following a straight line. He removes people and objects from the creature's path as it travels around the world. Eventually the creature returns down the same hole from which it emerges. Superboy then seals the hole preventing the creature from returning.

Superboy then rigs several water mains, so that Clark Kent is found alive in a hole in the ground. The trick works, and Superboy is able to continue using his dual identity.
