Three members of the Superman Revenge Squad visit Earth to release Eterno, an android constucted by an ancient race. Eterno has been buried under the Earth for centuries held immobile by the element absorbium. Once Eterno freed, he begins terrorizing Metropolis. Superman battles Eterno with neither side able to prevail. Both the Man of Steel and the android appear to be indestructible.

During the battle, the Revenge Squad watches. One of them accidentally announces their involvment, claiming that Eterno is their pawn. Angered, Eterno turns on the Revenge Squad and destroys their ship. In an attempt to save themselves, the Squad creates more absorbium to stop Eterno. The android collapses directly onto the damaged ship. Neither the android nor the Revenge Squad members survive.
