Synopsis:
Superman is wanted by the police for destroying slum tenements. The chief of police assigns Captain Reilly, a Chicago detective who always gets his man, to the case. Reilly posts a five thousand dollar reward on Superman’s head and intends to get the reward himself.

While saving a suicidal mental patient, Superman is observed by amateur detective, Mortimer Snoop. Snoop finds Superman’s civilian clothes and alerts Captain Reilly. However, both men’s greed allows Superman to retrieve his clothes from under their noses.

Later, Snoop learns that Superman will be attending a party. He tries to crash the party, but is not allowed inside. He phones Lois Lane at the Daily Star and offers her a story in exchange for entrance. Lois arrives and enters but denies entrance to Snoop in an effort to protect Superman, whom she has developed a crush on.

Snoop phones Reilly who breaks in to the party. He begins searching the guests, but when Snoop realizes Reilly is going to stiff him on the reward, he shuts off the lights. Clark who was about to be searched, changes clothes in the dark and when the lights come back on, defeats the detectives as Superman. Reilly leaves town in disgrace, while Superman remains free.
