He is seen by Sally Selwyn, who once fell in love with Clark Kent, when he had amnesia and believed he was Jim White. Sally thinks the spy is Jim. To hide-out from police, the spy plays along with Sally's mistake.
Superman arrives to investigate the imposter. He too runs in to Sally which restores his memory of their previous encounter. He decides that Sally is worth marrying, but when he finally locates the imposter, he reconsiders.
The imposter, who is really Ned Barnes, a boy Superboy once saved. Barnes got plastic surgery to resemble the Boy of Steel, but eventually came to despise him. Barnes has fallen for Sally too, so he double-crosses his partners to save her life. He dies in the encounter, and Superman realizes that he too must give up Sally to protect her.
