Synopsis:
While performing a rescue at sea, Superman encounters a new Kryptonite alloy formed from Red and Gold Kryptonite. The radiation causes Superman to lose his memory. When he reaches shore in his Superman costume, he is mistaken for a guest at a costume party. Though he still possesses his super powers, Superman thinks they come from his costume.

A report that Superman has died causes Superman to believe that he was chosen as a substitute for Superman. He finds his way to the Daily Planet where the staff recognize him as Clark Kent. Superman then assumes his regular secret identity, not knowing that he is really the Man of Steel.

Acting as a substitute for himself, Superman assumes his regular duties, until an electrical accident restores his memory.
