This story takes place during Clark Kent's college years.

Synopsis:
A group of poor teenagers known and the Raiders break into Metropolis University. They commit acts of vandalism and theft. Superboy stops them and has some of them arrested. Marla Harvey sides with the teens and sets up a school to help educate them. The kids then steal books from the University library. Superboy is forced to return them.

Despite the obviously criminal behavior of the teens, Marla defends them. When Superboy returns later, he finds Marla trapped inside her temporary school as the building collapses around her. Superboy is unable to save her life, but she makes him promise to help the kids. Superboy begins constructing a new school for them, but he stops before it is completed. Instead, he tells them to work for themselves to build a better community. Months later, Superboy dedicates the school to Marla. He feels that she is partially responsible for him becoming a Superman.
