Synopsis:
After visiting Lightning Lad, whose robot arm is being studied by a Dr. Hanscom, in a medical center, the Legion is assigned by Science Police Chief Wilson to bring Thomas Keene and his rejuvium to the United Planets on Earth. Keene, an Earth prospector, had discovered the mineral, which rejuvinates anyone who eats it, on a wild planetoid.

Upon arriving at Metropolis Spaceport, the Legionnaires are attacked by a flying costumed figure calling himself Starfinger, with the ability to project various rays from his right arm. He and his men almost make off with the rejuvium, but are stopped by Sun Boy, who makes it too hot to handle. Starfinger creates a diversion by setting a freighter on fire and escapes.

Starfinger's next scheme is to invade a Metropolis television station and announce that he will destroy the seven wonders of the 30th century unless the rejuvium is turned over to him. The Legion immediately splits into teams to protect each wonder.

At the first wonder, Sun City, Saturn Girl, Colossal Boy, and Star Boy are on guard when Starfinger attacks, and in the ensuing battle Sun City is saved but Star Boy is gravely injured. Element Lad, Sun Boy, Invisible Kid, and Cosmic Boy arrive to pursue the fleeing Starfinger, but fail to capture him.

At another wonder, the lofty Stratosphere Laboratory, Ultra Boy, Matter-Eater Lad, and Phantom Girl see Starfinger coming, and summon the other Legionnaires for help. Starfinger stops them all with his various rays, destroys the laboratory, and escapes. As he flies off, Saturn Girl reads his mind and learns that he is one of them.
