Synopsis:
Superman investigates a rocket which has crashed on Earth. Inside the rocket is a teenage girl in a costume like Superman’s.
She explains that she is from a city which escaped the destruction of Krypton. The city floated through space for many years. A lead flooring was installed to protect the people from the ground which was turned into deadly Kryptonite. A meteor shower, however, broke holes in the shielding, and the city became poisoned. Zor-El, a scientist, sent his daughter Kara to Earth where she could survive with another Kryptonian survivor, Superman.
Superman realizes that Zor-El and Jor-El were brothers, so Supergirl is his cousin. She has powers identical to his. He helps her adopt the secret identity of Linda Lee and places her in the Midvale Orphanage. Supergirl promises to keep her existance a secret while Superman trains her. For now, she will act without being seen, as a guardian angel.
