Later, the pirates witness a ship signaling to shore. Another signal is seen from the inn. The Black Pirate finds the serving maid is sending the return signal. Then the smugglers raid the inn and capture Jon and his son.

The pirates are buried in the sand with the tide approaching. They work their way free, then board the smugglers' ship. The girl who is held prisoner explains that the smugglers had her brother as a hostage and were using her to time their raids. The Black Pirate the defeats the crew and rescues the girl.
