Synopsis:
Arak returns to the court of Carolus Magnus to tell the tale of Malagigi's abduction by Angelica's demons. His accusations cause a rift because many of Magnus's men do not believe the red-skinned warrior. Magnus decides to continue with the tournament and orders Arak seized. After besting several men-at-arms, Arak is attacked by Argalia. The sorceress's brother charges Arak with his lance. The indian unhorses his foe, who is trampled to death by the horse.
After witnessing her brother's death, Angelica summons a demon and departs. Having finally seen sorcery himself, Magnus finally believes Arak's story. He then asks that the indian rescue Malagigi from White Cathay. Since the exact location is not known, Magnus gives Arak a scroll and sends him to Rome to learn more. Valda joins him on the quest.
As Arak and Valda make their way through the mountains they come across a well-stocked tent that has been abandoned. They spend the night inside. During the night they are attacked by vampires. One lures Arak into the freezing waters, but Valda's screen brings him to his senses. The two warriors defeat and slay the vampires, but Arak is wounded by a vampire bite during the fight.
